Winter Beauty Must-Haves At A Glance
During the winter months my skin tends to get dry and dull, that’s why products on this list help to brighten my visage and skin and bring back some of it’s vibrant summer color. Here’s a quick list of my current must-haves that we’ll discuss in more detail in a moment!
- Frothy, Foaming Facial Cleanser
- Lip Sleeping Mask
- Moisturizing Sheet Mask
- Basic Hand Cream
- Hydrating Lip Balm
- Pore Minimizing Blush
- Long Lasting Black Liquid Eyeliner
- Luxurious Highlighter
Frothy, Foaming Facial Cleanser
First up is the Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash – my favorite facial cleanser! I love the lather and how this face wash is gentle, yet effective. The Checks and Balances face wash combines Broad Leaf Kelp Extract, Wheat Protein, and Tourmaline to cleanse away impurities and surface oils, while balancing dry and oily zones. Now you know why this is my favorite, this cleanser is formulated to evenly cleanse and balance combination skin, like mine! It has never dried out my skin or left me with dry patches. On the flip side, I’ve found that it also helps reduce shine in my oily areas throughout the day. One more bonus: this frothy face wash is 100% Vegan.
Lip Sleeping Mask
You’re going to see a common theme as you read through this post: moisture. We all know how dry winters are, which is why hydrating skincare products are of the utmost importance. I highly recommend moisturizing throughout the year, but it is especially important during the winter season. Whether you’re in New York, California, or Las Vegas, NV (I’ve wintered in all of these places!), moisturizing products like the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask are a MUST. I love this product because it works its magic while I’m asleep. I generously apply this lip mask as the last step of my evening skincare routine and as I sleep, it soothes, moisturizes and smooths.
Moisturizing Sheet Mask
Now that we’ve talked about how important it is to keep our skin hydrated when the weather is wintery, you know why a marvelous moisturizing mask is next on my Winter Beauty Must-Haves list! I’m a huge fan of, and currently using, the To Do List Honey Glow Mask 30-Day Skin Reset Kit. This kit uses Propolis extract to detox, hyaluronic acid to hydrate, and honey extract to replenish and instantly soften skin. All of that goodness aside, I love the packaging. Instead of each mask being individually wrapped, these sheet masks reduce a great deal of waste by being packaged together in just one container – not 30. Join me, we can do the 30-day sheet mask challenge together and start the year off with some seriously spectacular skin! Basic Hand Cream
Okay, your hand cream doesn’t have to be basic. It can be extra! Basic or not, when I asked my followers on Instagram what their winter beauty must-haves are, hand cream was the #1 response so let’s discuss! When it comes to hand creams, I like products that are fast-absorbing, non-greasy, and have a pleasant, but not overly strong scent. For these reasons, my top pick for hand cream is the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Touch Hand Cream. Just like the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, which I love, it has the divine Cheirosa ’62 scent with notes of pistachio and salted caramel. The formula, which now includes plant-based Squalane, locks in hydration. Besides loving their products, I love Sol de Janeiro because they keep sustainability in mind. This hand cream is packaged in a fully recyclable all-in-one tube and like all Sol de Janeiro products, it is cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, sustainably sourced, and (incase you take it on vacation this winter) reef safe.
Hydrating Lip Balm
Incase you skipped ahead to this section of the post, let’s review:
Winter = dry. Moisturizing products = must-haves!
When the temperatures start to drop always keep a hydrating lip balm within arms reach, I certainly do. My must-have, that I have purchased over and over again for years is the Fresh Sugar Lip Balm Sunscreen SPF 15. FYI, I just swiped some on! There are several different versions of Fresh’s lip treatments, but my favorites are the aforementioned Sugar Lip Balm Sunscreen SPF 15 in Original, Sheer and the Sugar Mint Rush Freshening Lip Treatment. If you prefer a tinted lip balm, I recommend the Sugar Lip Balm Sunscreen SPF 15 in Rose, Coral, or Berry.
Pore Minimizing Blush
Like dreary, winter weather, it seems like no matter what we do our skin tends to be a bit duller during the winter months. One way to combat this, in addition to a stellar skincare routine, is to add a flush of color to your cheeks with a pore minimizing blush. The pore minimizing part may not be necessary, but it’s a fantastic bonus! I love the blurring power of the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Blush. I use the shade Naturally Pretty, but whatever shade you choose, the color of this blush is buildable. I wear my blush more sheer during the day and layer it for a little more drama at night. Some additional perks to this product are that it’s talc-free and uses the anti-aging ingredients collagen, silk, peptides, and antioxidants.
Long Lasting Black Liquid Eyeliner
Like topping your cold weather ensemble off with a beautiful black beret, I like to finish off my winter makeup looks with a swipe of long lasting black liquid eyeliner. When choosing a liquid eyeliner I look for something with a flexible, yet precise felt tip. This way I can use it like a pen and draw on my signature winged eyeliner. Wings are definitely my thing, but the Haus Laboratories by Lady Gaga Eye-Lie-Ner can be used to create any long lasting eyeliner look from gorgeous graphic eyeliner to the purrfect cat eye.
Two of my other favorites include the Pat McGrath Labs Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner and the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. All 3 of these eyeliners glide on smoothly, last without fading, flaking, or smudging and are easy to use.
I’m all about simplicity when it comes to my daily makeup routine, which is why I love a highlighter stick. Full disclosure, I prefer all of my face makeup to come in stick form so I can swipe, blend, and go, but that’s not always an option. Fortunately it is with the Chanel Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick. Daily, I swipe this on the outer edges of my cheeks bones and blend it up toward my temples. When I want to get a little more glam, I’ll also swipe it down the bridge of my nose and I’ll add a tiny bit just above the middle of my upper lip (my cupid’s bow). We can talk more about highlighting tips and tricks in an upcoming post! I know this particular highlighter is pricey, but I assure you that it will give you a gorgeous glow. This highlighter comes in 7 shades, I have and love Transparent – a subtle golden beige.
