Quick And Easy Morning Skincare Routine

No matter what your skincare concerns are, following this basic routine every morning before applying makeup will give you better feeling and better looking skin! The best way to have beautiful skin is to take care of it. Proper treatment of your skin requires a little bit of time and the right skincare products. Pamper your skin and it will thank you by looking flawless and bright!

In this post, I’m going to highlight products that work well for all skin types. Use this routine as a guide and swap out products that you already love or think will work best for your skin. Quick and Easy Morning Skincare Routine

Let’s begin by taking a look at the outline of my morning skincare routine. As you can see, it consists of a breezy 5 steps.

This 5-step morning skincare routine may seem daunting, but I assure you that it doesn’t take more than a few minutes and it is absolutely worth the effort.

  1. Cleanse
  2. Tone
  3. Apply Serum
  4. Apply Eye Cream
  5. Moisturize

Now that you have an idea of what the ideal morning skincare routine looks like, let’s break it down. For each of these steps, let’s talk about the benefit of it and the products I recommend using for it. I’m always trying out new products and moving products in and out of my routine, so today I will highlight which products are currently making the cut and what products I think work best for all skin types.

Step 1: Cleanse

Washing your skin is important for removing impurities, sweat, and any skincare products you applied before going to bed. Your skin won’t need a deep clean in the morning since you’ve already removed your makeup the night before. Right? Right!? Please remove your makeup before going to bed at night! Before I go off on that tangent, I assure you we’ll discuss removing your makeup before going to bed in an upcoming evening skincare routine post. For now, let’s stick with the ideal morning skincare routine. A gentle cleansing is all that’s required in the AM to wake up your face and get it ready for the day. As a bonus, splashing water on your face in the morning is very refreshing and will help you perk right up if you’re feeling groggy.

The Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash is an excellent option for all skin types and it’s been my go-to face wash for years. If you’ve read my Winter Beauty Must-Haves post, this product may sound familiar. If not, go check it out for even more reasons to love this Origins face wash. The Checks and Balances face wash is very appropriately named because it balances dry and oily areas. Whether your skin is dry, oily, or a combination of both (lucky us!), this frothy face wash has got you covered. I really love the silky texture it has that morphs into a luxurious froth as you massage it into your skin. As you rinse it off, it cleanses away impurities and excess oil leaving your skin balanced and beautiful.

Step 2: Tone

Toning your face after washing it has several purposes and benefits. Toner is mainly used to remove any debris and oil left behind after cleansing, but using a toner also improves skin tone and reduces the appearance of pores. Full transparency, toners aren’t an essential product. That being said, based on how many benefits they have and how much they can improve the overall look of your skin I highly recommend incorporating them into your morning and evening skincare routines. To make use of a toner more sustainable, skip the cotton ball and apply them using washable, reusable beauty rounds. I use the Saie Beauty Rounds and absolutely LOVE them, they are so soft! Bonus: in addition to using them to apply toner in the morning, you can grab a clean one to remove makeup in the evening.

One toner that is beneficial to all skin types and that is one of my all time favorites is the Pixi Glow Tonic with Aloe Vera and Ginseng. This toner truly does it all and it’s cruelty-free! One of the key ingredients in this toner is Glycolic Acid. Glycolic Acid helps exfoliate skin, revealing a brighter, smoother complexion. It also aids in accelerating skin cell renewal, getting rid of dead skin cells faster. The other key ingredients in this toner, Aloe Vera and Ginseng, soothe, nourish, and hydrate skin. Pixi Glow Tonic is also free of alcohol, making it gentle enough to use in your morning and evening skincare routines.

Step 3: Apply a Serum

Serum is a highly concentrated, potent product that penetrates deep into your skin. Generally, serums provide additional, long-lasting moisture. But, if you’re already using a moisturizer in Step 5, why be redundant and use one here too? Well, depending on what type of formula you choose to use, serums can provide a plethora of benefits beyond hydration. Serums can be anti-aging, they can reduce redness, fight acne, control oil, and smooth your skin’s texture. Whatever your skincare concerns are, a serum can help you specifically address it. In a future post, I’ll break down the best serums for every skin type and several skincare concerns. For now, let’s look at the serum I’m currently loving and using in my routine.

I love the Eva Naturals Collagen Peptide Complex Serum because it smooths fine lines and wrinkles, evens your overall tone, and improves elasticity. The peptides in this serum are beneficial because they tell the skin it’s time to produce more collagen. I initially received this serum in a PR package including several serums from Eva Naturals. While I really liked their skin clearing Vitamin C serum, I always love products that brighten my skin, the Collagen Peptide Complex Serum is the one I’ve been reaching for and using regularly. If you’re a fan of plant-derived ingredients, I’m sure you’ll be happy to hear that all Eva Naturals products are plant-based.

Step 4: Apply Eye Cream

The skin around the eye area is so delicate, it is imperative that you use products specifically formulated for this area. Protect the under-eye area with an eye cream. If you wear makeup, eye creams will help prep this delicate skin for makeup application. Eye creams are also key when it comes to youthful looking skin and bright, rested-looking eyes. The right eye cream is your best friend if your beauty sleep is lacking. Most eye creams provide several desirable benefits. They can moisturize, reduce the appearance of dark circles, combat puffiness, and smooth out fine lines.

My go-to eye cream, technically eye “gel,” is the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Hydrating Eye Gel. I swear, beauty products have no restraint when it comes to naming their products! Is it really necessary for products to have such a long name!? Anyway, lengthy name aside, this eye gel is incredible and suitable for all skin types. I love the smooth, gel texture and that it has a cooling feeling when being applied waking my eyes right up! This eye gel moisturizes with Hyaluronic Acid, while Pentavitin locks that moisture in for 72 hours. AcquaCell (that sounds made up, but okay) and Malachite Complex help smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Caffeine helps to reduce puffiness, I’m all about eye products that include caffeine! Lastly, this hydrating eye gel contains Haloxyl which helps lighten dark under eye circles.

Step 5: Moisturize

The easiest way to ensure your skin is looking its best is to hydrate! Yes, of course this means drinking lots of water (I don’t know why that’s so hard, but it is), it also means using a moisturizer daily. Honestly, the very minimum I would recommend doing for your skin during your morning skincare routine would be cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. Moisturized skin always looks smooth and glowing. I’d also like to throw in here that when it comes to fighting signs of aging, using a product with SPF everyday is a must! I know that we may not have all been raised using SPF daily or even regularly. Some of us may have even used tanning oil, which is basically the opposite of applying SPF – eek! Let’s learn from our mistakes and move forward using SPF everyday, even if it’s cloudy!

My husband and I both use the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Hydrating Moisturizer SPF 45. That’s right, I got him hooked on it! Now it’s a battle over who’s sink it lives at, although I’ve mostly been letting him win this one. I just love that he likes it as much as I do! The fact that we both use it shows how well it works for different skin types, mine being combination, his being normal. Besides being great for all skin types, this moisturizer with SPF is water-resistant, reef-safe, vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free. It’s great for dryness (of course!), anti-aging (because SPF), dullness, and uneven skin texture. Like the Peter Thomas Roth eye cream mentioned above, this moisturizer contains Pentavitin which locks in moisture for 72 hours, even after cleansing!

A 5-step morning skincare routine may not seem quick and easy, but it is! This routine goes by surprisingly quickly and will leave your skin looking so good! If your skincare routine is a few steps shorter, or non-existent(!), this extra effort is worth it, I promise. You’ll see and feel the difference in your skin.
